Protection of Information Critical to the Government
CSE Directives are issued to protect Government of Canada Internet-connected networks, ensure interoperability of various secure communication devices, and outline security considerations for contracting of public Cloud Computing services.
The directives and other publications issued by CSE commonly recommend critical security actions that help analyze and mitigate cyber-threat activity that impact government networks, hosting infrastructure and information.
CSE guidelines cover a wide range of cyber-security topics, including client authentication, communication and cloud security, network security zoning, cryptography, remote access, mobile device management and storage media sanitization.
The agency developed an IT Security Risk Management Framework that helps government entities outline a risk strategy and adopt a rigorous process by which they can effectively implement and manage security controls, solutions, tools and techniques to protect confidential or operation-critical IT assets against compromises.
